K2 Energy solutions
K2 Energy Solutions, Inc. was founded to commercialize and manufacture rechargeable battery systems for electric vehicles and energy storage applications. Phostech Lithium
Phostech Lithium Inc., an affiliate of Süd-Chemie AG, and European Batteries have signed a non-exclusive license-agreement for production and sales of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries. LFP, discovered in 1995 by the University of Texas and licensed to and then developed by Hydro-Québec from 1997 to 2001, is used in lithium-ion batteries. Phostech Lithium has been granted an exclusive license from University of Texas and Hydro-Québec for the production and sale of LFP for lithium-ion batteries. LFP has been replacing Lithium Cobalt Oxide and allows larger, safer and more environmentally-benign batteries. European Batteries is among the first companies which has developed large-format LFP cells for automotive, heavy machinery and energy industry applications.
